The 50-year-old Mitchell Centre will undergo a $60 million renovation and 120,000 square-foot expansion in the near future. The new construction will provide students, faculty and staff a state-of-the-art facility for recreation, intramurals, fitness and varsity sports. It will also provide a first class venue for University events such as convocations, banquets and conferences.
Participating in athletics enriches the university experience by building character, discipline, tenacity, teamwork and leadership — qualities needed to succeed academically, professionally and personally. Our 650 varsity athletes practice 20 to 25 hours per week, carry a full course load and must maintain the high academic standards expected of all University of Guelph students.
